Smart Campus Networks
Technology should be a vital part of any master planned community
A2D is one of the nation’s leading open access fiber optics telecommunications providers specializing in developing single campus networks that serve master planned, multi-family and mixed use (residential/commercial) developments. A2D employs cutting-edge fiber-to-the-premise technology in which fiber optic cable serves as the backbone for all of the community’s communications services.
Most campus network providers establish their own monopoly wherein community residents can only get the services they deliver. We believe that you should enjoy the benefits of competition where the best services can be delivered across the best network. The key difference between A2D and other campus network providers is A2D’s campus network is 100% open access. Residents and business that reside in an A2D Smart Campus Network can pick and choose amongst any provider on our network.
A2D’s Smart Campus Network business model is simple: We partner with the developer to share in the network development cost. We create a special purpose entity that protects the long-term investment interest of both A2D and the developer. Providers who choose to compete to deliver services across A2D’s network pay a flat toll fee per month to the joint entity. Operations and maintenance expenses are paid by the joint entity to manage the network with the profits being split amongst its shareholders.
As an added bonus, because A2D is a CLEC, we are able to expand the Smart Campus Network into surrounding communities along the public-right-of-way. Therefore the original developer, municipal stakeholders, providers and surrounding community members all benefit from the network’s expansion.
