Telehealth Network
A2D, through our eCommunity eProgram Development Initiative, is partnering with public and private organizations that are focused on ensuring that every citizen has access to quality health and mental care regardless of where they live. In many rural and low-income urban areas, there is a shortage of nurses, doctors and specialist. As a result, many chronically ill patients, seniors, and the mentally ill simply can’t afford to travel regularly out of their community to get medical treatment. Often, they are forced to wait until there’s a medical emergency to get triage help.
Telehealth is one of the only mediums that bridge the geographical and financial divide that prevents low-income patients from getting adequate healthcare. Unfortunately, to participate in at-home telehealth, the patient must have access to adequate broadband, which itself, is a monthly cost few low or fixed-income patients can cover.
